A Fitting Finale & Beginning

It's been in the wind for a while but it has been confirmed, it seems, that the new stadium at Ashburton Grove would be opened with a tribute to a true Arse living legend, Dennis Bergkamp.

It couldn't be a more appropriate way for the Dutch master to mark the end of an illustrious career, nor could the new stadium be opened in a more fitting manner – the end of something great to signal the beginning of hopefully something even greater.

DB is the only one in the current squad who has scored goals matching the brilliance of Titi’s best. Who could forget that absolutely mesmerising brace against Newcastle in 2002 and those triple winners of Match of the Day’s “Goal of the Month” competition in 1997? And in an Orange shirt, that magical last-gasp winning strike against Argentina in 1998 that must rank as one of the greatest goals ever scored in a World Cup finals?

Here’s a link to re-live some of DB10’s greatest ever goals. Enjoy :)

First game at the Emirates Stadium eh??
Last game at Highbury would have been more sentimental and practical seeing how he's not going to be involved in any other game at the Emirates.... but a testimonial nonetheless which would bring a fitting end to a brillian Gunner.

PS. Good blog by the way. Keep on updating!
