Germany through!
What a match. The hosts have just marched on into the semis, as we correctly predicted, after a tight, feisty encounter between two excellent, technical sides that ended with Germany winning 4-2 on penalty kicks (1-1 AET).
Mad Jens saved magnificently from Ayala, scorer of the game's first goal just after half time, and some other guy. Meanwhile, the Germans - including a supposedly limping Ballack - gave the Argentinean keeper no chance with prime examples straight out of the German Shootout Textbook. The hosts had earlier equalised through a trademark Klose header 10 mins from the end of normal time.
So, one down, three more to go. Am just hoping the Italian team can put away all their troubles for now and concentrate on doing what they are here to do. Forza, Cannavaro! FORZA AZZURRI!!!
