A Perfect Final Day at Highbury

I'm so chocked full of emotion now I can hardly type...

Arsenal 4 (Le Bob, Titi x 3) Wigan 2
Hammers 2 Spuds 1

4. Arsenal 38 20 7 11 68 31 67
5. Spuds 38 18 11 9 53 38 65

What a roller-coaster final day and season it has been. The advantage changed hands so many times throughout the 90 mins I almost died from the tension. I thought they wouldn't drop points but fate and the Hammers conspired and they did! We had to beat Wigan at home first, of course, and we did. The visitors made it tough in the first half but we prevailed in the end.

When Titi scored his 3rd - from the spot after our supersub Freddie was held back by his Wigan counterpart who was subsequently sent off (they had both barely got onto the pitch but who cares?!) - and kissed the perfect Highbury turf, tears simply welled in my eyes. A hat-trick on the final day at THOF by arguably the greatest player ever to grace the hallowed grounds. Stay, Titi, we all love you.

The stands today were awash in red and white and a such sight to behold. The atmosphere was fantastic, as can be expected. I can't believe ESPN just cut away from the post-match celebrations & a parade of some of the greatest names to ever play at THOF!! Idiots!!!

Bye-bye, Highbury, we'll remember you forever.

And to cap off a perfect day for yours truly, on the race tracks at the Nürburgring, Schumi triumphed in his "home" GP (or what is officially known as the European Grand Prix) over Alonso, helped by some excellent strategy and pitwork by the Ferrari team. It's the great German's second successive win over the defending champ and as a Schumi and Ferrari fan, I'm more than chuffed.

Well, back to the Arse, there's now just the small matter of a Spanish date in Paris in a fortnight's time, before the WC kicks off. I can't wait.
